Christopher Columbus is celebrated for helping expand our world and knowledge. In Miami, we celebrate his life and adventure with the Columbus Day Regatta. The 2009 Columbus Day Regatta will be held from October 10th to the 11th. Boaters come from far and wide to race for great prizes and partying. The races are held in a span of two days in the beautiful Biscayne Bay.

The Columbus Day Regatta caters to the adventurous as well as spectators. All contestants of the races are required to obey strict safety standards and speed limits to protect all passengers as well the marine life of South Florida such as the manatee and sea turtle.

After the race, the Miami events award presentation is held at the Coral Reef Yacht Club where contestants, friends and family will enjoy music and food. In addition to the trophies available to everyone, the Miami events first-time competitors may also compete for The Rookie Award. A discounted entry fee for first-time racers are used to encourage new racers to compete. If you are planning to attend this event, it is highly recommended that you book your Miami hotel or Florida holiday rental in advance.
