Pierre, one of Manhattan’s most famous hotels, closed for 18 months and reopened on June 1st after a $100 million renovation. It originally opened in 1930. The renovated Pierre offers 189 upgraded rooms and suites. The renovated Pierre guest rooms were repainted with blue and coral tones and equipped with Wi-Fi, 40-inch flat-screen TVs and Bose Wave Music Systems. Most of the bathrooms have been extended to fit a separate soaking tub and all of them have Turkish marble and glass-walled showers.
Aside from the rooms and suites, the renovated Pierre also features upgraded public spaces and the new 2 East, a lounge and bar. The hotel, located on 61st street and Fifth Avenue overlooking Central Park, is the first North American home for the famous London restaurant Le Caprice. Nightly rates start at $895. The price is steep so for those of you who would rather browse the hotel like a museum but spend your nights in a more affordable lodging option, there are plenty of New York vacation rentals in the area.
