How to behave when pulled over by the police for driving violations in Miami?
Aside from keeping the city and its neighborhood’s safe, Florida police officers also need to make sure that traffic regulations are respected. Visitors driving in Florida should immediately stop and pull over when asked to by a police officer. Customs in dealing with this situation varies from country to country. Forget what you know about other places. Our Florida guide gives the first tip: Stop safely but promptly. Next, stay in your vehicle, keep your hands on the steering wheel and wait calmly for the officer to approach you. If you see the officer carefully approaching you with his hand close to his gun, do not worry. That is standard procedure.

• Wait patiently and do not get out of your vehicle unless told
• Express yourself calmly and respectfully.
• Be apologetic
• Accept fines and documents given to you. If you disagree with the charges, you don’t have to sign them
• Do not attempt to offer money to get out of trouble. You will end up in jail
After your encounter with the officer, you may hire a traffic lawyer to argue your fines and violations for driving in Florida. Even if you are guilty of the violation, a good traffic lawyer can get you out of trouble. The Florida guide states that on average, violators who win will pay the lawyer about $100 and will not get points on their driver’s license or increased insurance rates. If you lose, there will be points on your license and you will pay legal fees and the fine. Of course, if you are not from the US, points from driving in Florida will not affect your driver’s license. If you intend to come back to the US as a resident, pay any fines you may have from driving in Florida. Otherwise, they may be held against you.
